Together We’re Better – Compliance Strategies Training is a Success!

Resources,

“If I’m out of town, can I call my DECAL consultant and ask them to wait until I get back to perform their licensing visit?”

“What are the ramifications if I ‘Facebook/Instagram/Twitter stalk’ a potential hire?”

These are just two of the MANY issues addressed during the “Stay Ahead of Citations and Keep Your Center Compliant” training on October 19th. DECAL Consultants led by Melissa Davis, Shanna Ritch, Head of Operations at Kids R Kids Mableton, and Edye Summerfield Disner, Director at Dunwoody Prep, collaborated to create a half-day training geared toward helping centers develop best practices and implement tools in order to stay compliant with state and federal laws. Shanna and Edye showed trainees their center-specific forms and Melissa’s team showed an example of what they look for (and like to see) when performing a licensing visit.

In addition, a team with HR Strategies, Susan DiGraitis, PHR, SHRM-CP and Bob Kirschner, Chief Development Officer, thoroughly walked attendees through the “Employee Lifecycle” – everything from finding, hiring and terminating. They also covered the increasingly important gray-area topic of how social media can play into the hiring (and sometimes firing) process.

One attendee said:

“This is the most useful training I’ve attended this year and it was great to talk with other people outside of my center to see what they do. And because the DECAL team was there, I felt like they really want to help and they’re not the enemy.”

GCCA and DECAL will continue collaborating to create valuable, useful trainings for those working in the Early Childhood Education Industry. Our next training is Inclusion Strategies on Saturday, November 11th. This training offers 5 BFTS hours. For more information and to register, click here.
